Townfield Church

Townfield Church is a growing community which meets at St Andrew’s school, aiming to be a welcoming, informal and friendly place to worship God, and develop our faith together. Townfield was ‘planted’ by St Andrew’s church in 1992, to provide a place of worship at the school’s end of the parish, and it has grown to be a community of all ages and many nationalities who share one faith in Jesus.

St Andrew’s school is much more than a meeting place for us, as we enjoy being part of difference aspects of school life (helping with school activities, running regular ‘Messy Church’ sessions, taking part in school collective worship, and having church members on the school governing body).

Townfield Church meets on Sunday mornings at 10.30am in the school hall, with special groups for children and young people taking place during the service (apart from when we’re all together for an all-age service). We also share a 6.30pm evening service with St Andrew’s church, and this takes place in the school hall twice a month (‘Celebrate’, with a youth focus, on the first Sunday of each month, and ‘Café Church’, with a discussion focus, on the third Sunday of each month).

Although Sunday mornings are the main time when we meet together, there’s more to Townfield than just Sundays. We have a number of groups and activities which meet through the week, or on a monthly, termly or occasional basis. These groups and activities all form part of our journey, as a community, towards being “A Christ-centred family, sharing God’s love”.

Here at St Andrew's we  are grateful to members of both Townfield and St Andrew's Churches for providing volunteers who run our Toast Club every morning before school. Townfield Church members also provide creche facilities during Parents' Evenings. We also welcome speakers from amongst the leadership and congregation of the church for our school assemblies.
