St. Andrew's Pre-School Playgroup was established in October 1993 and is a self funding organisation committed to quality pre-school education THROUGH PLAY.
In September 2006 our Pre-School changed to the Continuous Provision Model which is the Wirral Education's new directive. This was not a big change for us as the way we teach the children has always been play based. Continuous Provision is about enabling the children to experiment, explore, practice skills and consolidate their learning without fear of failure.
Our room is split into twelve areas of learning such as maths, workshop, computer, sand etc and children can choose which area they want to access. Children stay at the activities for as long as they wish, building skills and experimenting until they feel ready to move on.
We are registered with Ofsted and we were inspected on 1 st May when our inspector judged us as "Outstanding" across all areas of education and care. Here are a couple of comments from our inspection report.
"Warm and caring relationships are formed between children and staff as they talk and laugh together whilst playing. Children are happy and enjoy themselves in the vibrant pre-school environment that the staff create each session. They make excellent progress because staff are highly skilled, have good understanding of early years guidance............"
"Quality of teaching and learning is outstanding. Staff have an excellent grasp of the Foundation Stage and how children learn. They use children's interests and their knowledge of each child's progress to effectively plan an extensive range of stimulating activities which cover all aspects of the curriculum."

The pre-school is registered to accept Educational Funding. The Local Authority will pay for up to 5 x 2.1/2 hour sessions per week for three and four year olds, which comes into effect the term after your child turns three. Before your child receives funding our fees are £6:50 per session.
The Pre-School has a waiting list and admissions are prioritised by age. If you would like your child's name placed on our waiting list or would like a prospectus, please either contact us on 0151-643-9591 or go to "contact us" on the home page and select 'Pre-School'.
